Assignment on Extinct/Endangered Animals in Canada

Value: 15 % of final grade

Due date: Monday, May 5, 2008

Prepare a multimedia presentation or poster on an endangered or extinct organism in Canada. You may work with a partner or alone. If you choose to work in partners I will have higher expectations. You should include pictures and answer the following questions:

What do we want to know about the animals’ daily life?
Why is the organism endangered?
What will probably happen to the animal if measures are not taken to preserve it?
What significance does this species have to the environment, community, ecosystem?
How long has this species been in trouble?
Include a map of the affected area where the endangered organism exists. Did its habitat decline and why? What was the land used for previously and what is it used for now?
Determine some of the major problems that the human population is facing and discuss any possible correlations between those problems and the problems facing the endangered species.

Remember this is just the minimum requirements. Feel free to use your creativity! Don’t forget to include all references used including websites.
