Canadian Biomes

Your project will be completing research on one of the biomes in Canada. Research your biome and complete a one page handout and a poster. Neatness and accuracy of information are important. Remember to put the information in you own words, and to write down your references. Your summary and poster must include the following information:

A. The name and definition of the biome you are studying.
B. Map of Canada showing the location of your biome.
C. The abiotic (non living ) factors:

· Climate factors
· Soil conditions
· One other abiotic factor that is special about the biome.

D. The biotic factors:
· Three kinds of plants.
· Three kinds of animals.

E. Environmental concerns: Research and describe one environmental problem in the biome (i.e.: a certain kind of pollution or an endangered animal that lives in the biome). Briefly describe the problem and suggest one solution.
F. Bibliography: A list of three references for sources of information.

Evaluation:

Information summary 28 marks
Poster
· Information complete and accurate according to the marking scheme above. 10 marks
· Neatness, grammar, spelling, easy to understand and overall presentation 10 marks

Group Dynamics
· Willingness to work together and even division of work 10 marks

Meeting deadlines 5 marks
